The SUSTAIN-EU European Sustainability Expert Course uses a transparent and competence-based assessment approach. Each Competence Unit includes automated assessments designed to evaluate learners’ understanding of key concepts and their ability to apply sustainability knowledge in professional contexts.
To successfully complete a Competence Unit, learners must achieve a minimum score of 60%. Learners may repeat the quizzes and review the learning materials and automated feedback until they achieve the required passing score.
Upon successful completion of each Competence Unit, learners receive a digital badge recognising the specific sustainability competences acquired. These badges can be shared through professional platforms and social media profiles.
Learners who complete all nine Competence Units are awarded the SUSTAIN-EU Digital Certificate, recognising the knowledge, skills, autonomy and responsibility developed through the European Sustainability Expert learning pathway.
The certification framework is associated with EQF Level 5 and follows a modular approach, enabling learners to progressively accumulate individual badges towards the full SUSTAIN-EU Digital Certificate.
Navigating the Platform and Instructions
Follow these steps to find your way around the platform and complete your modules.

Create an account
You need to create an account to access the different modules.

Choose your modules
Once you are logged in, you can start with any of the modules. You are not required to complete the modules in a specific order. You can complete one module or as many as you wish.
For example, you can choose to only complete Modules 3 and 7.

Complete the course content
To complete a module, you need to complete all the course content, from the Introduction and the Key Topics through to the quiz.

Pass the quiz
A minimum passing score of 60% in the quiz is required to complete each Competence Unit/Module.

Download your certificate
Once you have completed all of the sections of a module, you can download your certificate.

Your progress is saved
Your progress is automatically tracked and saved, even if you log out of the platform.
